Deepa Srinivasan is a disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri. T. K. Govinda Rao. She started her initial training under the able guidance of Valliyur Sri. R. Gurumurthy, who shaped her into a concert vocalist and then received advanced training from Kalaimamani Smt. T. Rukmini. She also received specialized RTP training from Ghatam Maestro Sri K. M. Vaidyanathan.
 
In India, she has performed in various cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvaiyyaru and so on for different sabhas like Vidwath Samajam, Bharath Kalachar, Mylapore Fine Arts, in Chennai; and for sabhas like Gayana Samaj, Indian Institute of World Culture in Bangalore. She has also performed in Austin, College Station, Houston, Dallas and San Jose in the US. 
 
A recipient of the Government of India Scholarship for Carnatic Vocal music, Deepa has also been adjudged "Best Vocalist" of the Spirit of Youth Series, by Music Academy, Madras. She has been widely appreciated by critics for her mellifluous voice and captivating music. She also has 2 audio cds to her credit - Carnatic Celestial Classics and Rare Compositions of Swathi Thirunal.

 

Deepa Srinivasan started TKG Gurukulam and has been teaching students in the DFW metroplex for over 12 years. She has performed several arangetrams and her students continue to perform in the US and in India. She is a receipent of Lifetime Achievement Award by Papanasam Sivan Arts Academy.

 

Academically, a Chemical Engineer from India and MS from Texas A&M University, Deepa Srinivasan also completed her doctorate in Bioengineering from the University of Texas at Dallas.
